I normally don’t like to talk about negative things, but today I must. It seems that some people have really decided to go over the top about a few things. Ok, it’s not just some people, it is one person with money who has decided to become a personal stalker and predator. He is paying a few people to do some very bad things.
It’s really sad when someone who claims to run the largest TEFL course in the world will stoop to certain levels such as hiring individuals accused of some real bad things just to try to make trouble. It’s also a sign of a good reason to avoid taking courses from the provider. Obviously he is having some business problems and that could translate into negative consequences for those taking courses from him.

As an update to the trolls on the net post, TEFLWatch, a site that helps teachers even the playing field against unscrupulous employers is under attack by some people who it appears are in the employ of a school. Since the anti-teacher brigade are unable to shut down the site, they have instead resorted to attacking the site by making claims that are filled with lies and deceit. I can only guess that the goal of this anti-teacher brigade is to hurt teachers. Luckily, a site in support of teachers and TEFLWatch has come out.

Ok, designers came up with a better option than trailers for people displaced by natural disasters. Instead of travel trailers, they designed cottages that provide a safe and comfortable place for people to stay in. These cottages are higher quality and more closely resemble a home than a trailer ever could.

It’s been reported that another American has been deported. He was wanted in the US for the killing of a pregnant woman. Ok, good riddance and glad that he was caught so he can pay for the crimes he committed, but sometimes there is no accounting for brains. He was caught because he went to the embassy to renew his passport.

This was a reply to a post made in a forum about Internet Filtering in Thailand, I hope it is of use to someone out there. Back in 2001, the then new Prime Minister Thaksin came to power in Thailand. One of the first actions of the new year for the Communications Authority of Thailand(CAT) was enforce their monopoly on international communications. This meant that not only were voice calls subject to their monopoly but also data transmissions and this means the internet.
All of a sudden, all ISP’s were REQUIRED to purchase their internet access from the CAT at a markup. Since all internet access now passed through CAT, internet filtering began. Whenever the Thai Police felt that a website was counter to morals or laws of the Kingdom, they would give the website address to the CAT and the CAT would not allow for connections to be made to it and instead display a police notice.
This kind of filtering was impossible before 2001 because each individual ISP had to be contacted and they had to block the sites, but with only one ISP to deal with, CAT, it is very easy.
That is important to note, there is only 1 International ISP in Thailand, CAT, all others merely resell and repackage CAT access.
