Have You Done Any Good Today?

I always believe in supporting a great cause and the Alzheimer’s Memory Walk is just one of them. It’s a great opportunity to do some good. I am reminded of the song, “Have you Done Any Good In The World Today.” This is an awesome opportunity to do just that. It’s a chance to raise awareness and funds to get out there and make a positive change in the lives of many.

I know how important this is because I lost my own grandmother to Alzheimer’s. It was a particularly debilitating time for the entire family as we did all we could to help her get through the ravages of this disease. I felt so much compassion for her and I continually tried to think of ways to ease her burden. Towards the end, it got particularly bad, but we endured to the end.

The Alzheimer’s Memory Walk needs team captains to take charge and lead the way. It’s great because all of the walks are community based and you can talk with people you know for the help that you need. You can get church groups, civic groups, basically any one and everyone involved in this quest. It really is a chance to do some good in the world.

Learning How To Print Shirts

I have always been interesting in learning new skills. My wife was talking with me the other day about possibly doing silk screen shirts to sell at the flea market on the weekends for extra money. I always thought that making silk screen shirts would be difficult until I came across this video.

It’s a great tutorial on the process involved in silk screening shirts. Maybe this is a good family business idea for us. It could be just what we are looking for.

Getting Ready To Study For Cisco Certification

In the last week and a half, I have really started to seriously consider taking the Cisco certification exam. I am quite far from having the required. In fact, right now I am just doing the indepth study that I need in order to prepare to take a course. I want to study as much as I can about Cisco routers and the programming involved before I make the next leap. I think the training program that is available will serve me well.

I am looking forward to the income and employability boost that having a good certification like Cisco Certification will give me. I think the opportunities in the internet hardware industry are huge indeed. The market is going nowhere but up for people with these kind of skills, from small companies on up to large multinational companies. This training will open doors for me.

I know for others, it’s a push up the ladder, for me, the certification will be a door opener. I look at it as a well to move beyond just web programming and be able to offer much more to potential employers. Best of all, this is will be a huge credibility boost in the job market.

I will be reporting back on my progress, including when I finally sign up for the training program and before I actually take my Cisco certification exam. I am now trying to figure out a time frame for completion. I am excited to see what I can learn about Cisco. Please stay tuned.

Training For A Better Job

I am a big advocate of getting the training to get a better job. I am doing volunteer work in the career counseling area and it seems to be a mantra of mine, get more training and you’ll get a better job.

People have a hard understanding that things are changing rapidly these days and the job market is more competitive than ever before. The more competitive the job market is, the more benefit additional training can give you. It will help you stand above the competition in the marketplace.

If you think you could benefit from training, go on the net and try to find a training program that fits your interests. You might even find a training program in a hobby of yours.

Arguing Over The Internet

Arguing over the internet is one of the lamest things someone can do, but check out forums all over the net and you can see it going on regularly. I think the lifeblood of any internet forums is the arguing, accusations and flaming. It’s ridiculous.

It’s also the domain of losers. People without the gumption to do it in person think that they can just get on the internet and do it and then everything is just ok. They feel like they can be little keyboard warriors and convince everyone that they are in the right. In the end, they just end up convincing people that they are a loser.

Oh sure, they might get the support of a few other losers but that doesn’t change the fact that they are losers.
