My wife is a nurse, but she only has a associates in nursing. This means that she can work as an RN, but she can’t get the higher pay that those with a BS in Nursing can get. Lately she has been looking for a way to go from an rn to bsn online.
After a lot of looking, we found out about the programs available at Western Governors Online University and we’ve been impressed. It’s cheaper than the for profit universities that seem to be proliferating online and they are accredited by the same people that accredit the major universities. This makes it a big plus for us.
My wife really like the fact that it is an online university. This means that she can keep her job and keep her family responsibilities. It’s just more convenient.
One thing is certain, we are certainly looking at enrolling at Western Governors Online University over the next few months.
I hope that your wife went through with the decision to continue her education. Around the time you posted this I too was invloved in getting a BSN. I thought about Western, and they do have a nice program. I instead went with Jacksonville University because of how they handled the hands on training portions of their program. Not that there is one better than the other. In fact as you suggest make sure that the school is properly accredited. That is the most important. Also, if I may also suggest that you select a school that has a traditional campus environment that way on your resume it is not clear if your degree was obtained online or on a campus.
